The first step in applying for a promotion, position change, or raise begins with completing AMO's Professional Development Assessment. This assessment can be completed independently, giving you an opportunity to evaluate where you are and where you would like to be. Once complete, this assessment will be shared with HR along with your direct supervisor.

Titles
Levels and Descriptions
After completing the Professional Development Assessment, the second step in applying for a promotion or position change is to fill out the Development Plan with your manager, giving you an opportunity to identify new responsibilities you would like to take on and how this role will impact the department.
To help you identify an appropriate position title, we have detailed below the individual skills required to execute a job’s responsibility. Please note these positions vary across departments at the same job level, which impacts individual compensation. The below information was created to the best or our ability at today’s AMO. As such, these are living descriptions that will adjust as AMO grows.

Officer
- Make key business decisions that give an organization direction.
- Oversee the daily operations of a company.
- Outline the spending for their department.
- Hire candidates for department heads, as well as manage promotions, discipline, and termination within department.
- Reduce costs and spending by omitting projects or positions or by deploying new technology.
- Report to board of directors on behalf of company.
- Accountable to stakeholders for the performance of their department.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements for the business.
- Create strategies that minimize risk.

Director
For smaller departments, the Director takes on Manager level responsibilities.
- Determine the vision of the department.
- Execute as well as manage projects and deliverables.
- Create and oversee implementation of strategies to meet goals.
- Analyze data to predict trends.
- Oversee budgets/finances for their department.
- Supervises the entirety of department.
- Resolve difficult problems facing the department or unit.
- Ensure team members have what they need to succeed.

Manager
- Participate in creating a team plan and ensure the plan is implemented into daily task. Collaborate with Director/Officer to resolve difficult problems facing the department or unit.
- Ensure team decisions and directives are adhered to and carried out in a timely fashion. Manage team's Individual Contributors; leads people and projects.
- Focus on delegating tasks, managing workload, improving existing procedures, and addressing issues when necessary.
- Work with the Director/Officer to ensure employees have what they need to succeed in the long-term.
- Supervise their department on a more intimate level, more day to day. Make suggestions regarding company resources, expenses and employee roles.
- Identify improvements that can be made to processes and systems, research ways to improve, and share ideas with leadership.

Individual Contributor (IC)
People with individual contributor (IC) job titles represent the largest group at AMOpportunities. IC job titles vary by department. At AMO, these titles include Specialist, Coordinator, Advisor, Associate, Writer, Developer, & Designer. Departments can include multiple ICs on the same levels.
Specialist/Experienced Individual Contributors
A Specialist is someone who has previous work experience in a similar field or has mastered their general functions of their role.
Entry level Individual Contributors
An Entry Level Individual Contributor is someone new to their role.
- Complete projects and tasks in a timely manner
- Apply the decisions of the director/officer and oversee the team.
